On 4-5 December 2013 over 50 inventors and originators of the most innovative languages and technologies of the moment shared their experience with 200 attendees. Topics included Scala, Haskell, Clojure, Erlang, Elixir, Julia and much more. See you at Code Mesh 2014! codemesh.io/

About the talk:
Today's cloud and clustering infrastructure has to be distributed, scalable, and flexible. There's no better way to get this than to use ZeroMQ, the messaging library that powers CERN's 26 km particle-smashing accelerator. In this talk, Pieter Hintjens, author of the O'Reilly ZeroMQ book, and contributor to the project, will present ZeroMQ from first principles. Why do we need cheap messaging? What are the messaging patterns? How do we build a huge infrastructure out of small, pluggable pieces? He'll cover discovery, prototyping, protocols, security, and much more.
Talk objectives:

To explain the basic techniques of building very large distributed systems using fast asynchronous messaging in general, and ZeroMQ specifically.
Target audience:

Anyone designing or building distributed systems, in any language and on any platform.</video:description><video:player_loc>https://peertube.magicstone.dev/videos/embed/18365c01-30ab-456a-be8b-5624cff4598f</video:player_loc></video:video></url><url><loc>https://peertube.magicstone.dev/w/qan34zVR8D46rgHFkrWHcQ</loc><video:video><video:thumbnail_loc>https://peertube.magicstone.dev/static/thumbnails/3fc7386b-ea22-4164-97c1-7f36ec38f200.jpg</video:thumbnail_loc><video:title>Quoted Posts on the Fediverse, Problem in Ecko and Mastodon</video:title><video:description>From this discussion, it seems Mastodon is looking at implementing Quoted Posts similar to what Twitter has offered for a while, but for Ecko it's unclear if it's a valid problem.

As founder of the ZeroMQ community, he will explain the vision, design and reality of distributed software systems. He'll explain his view on the community itself, also a highly decentralized "Living System", as Hintjens calls it. Finally he'll talk about edgenet, a model for a decentralized Internet.
